Yes, but only one car per family.

Don’t worry about that because they pay for it. All you do is drive it to the port. They will give you the list of names and locations that they allow the government to pay for. If you plan on going on leave and taking your car then you can also take it with you on leave and ship it from there depending on your port call. But it will take about a month before it gets to Sand Island ( that is where you pick it up) so if you want a car for when you get there ship it out a month before you leave. Believe me you will want your car! If the Port is a long way from you they will also pay you milage to get it there.

Other two answers before mine are good answers. This is governed by Joint Federal travel Regulation, Chapter 5.

Yes they will pay to ship one car over – I’ve also heard that they have basically a “space A” program for additional cars so that if they have room they will charge you a small fee, like $100, and ship it if there is room. Another option is to ship it yourself through a civilian company, I’ve heard this can cost up to $5000 so if your car isn’t worth very much you’d be better off to sell it and buy again in Hawaii. Finally if your second vehicle is a motorcycle they can ship it with your household goods.
