During the last sixty years, different car accessories have been made for functionality and convenience.  During the 50s and the 60s, car accessories were mostly made for the car’s mechanical and exterior.  Believe it or not, speedometer and fuel gauges were not as common in cars in those days compared to the modern cars we know today.  Even mudflaps or stereos did not at all times come with every newly made car.

People who owned cars during the 1950s and 60s have learned to add different car gadgets to their own cars to enhance both functionality and style.  These individuals often referred to as greasers or grease-monkeys.  They did several modifications to their cars or their parents’ cars to fine-tune them and make them look more tailored to their own panache.  Car modifications involved swapping and taking out parts and replacing them with adequate or more impressive car accessories or parts.  Often times, these modified automobiles are called hot-rods.  Since then, different car makers have included parts and accessories that were not included before.

Every generation of cars get better in terms of horse power, efficiency, comfort and convenience.  A car engine’s power and performance have been enhanced all throughout the years with newly discovered composite materials and the way it’s built.  Efficiency in terms of gas kilometer-age or mileage have partly been dictated by economic and practical reasons.  In the course of the 1970s oil embargo to western countries, a number of earlier manufactured cars which consume large quantities of gasoline have lost their appeal in the maket in favor of smaller and more economical vehicles.  In addition to petroleum prices on the rise again, people are buying cars that offer a much lower engine displacement while enjoying an assortment of car amenities we take for granted nowadays like car stereos, automatic windows, and cup holders, most of which were uncommon luxuries of 50s, 60s, and 70’s cars.

One particular form of car accessory which is supposed to lessen air pollutants from cars is called the super turbo charger.  This car gadget can fit at the palm of your hand and it is placed under the hood connecting the car’s air filter and the EFI manifold/carburetor.  The device claims to reduce air pollution and cut gasoline consumption by 50%.

Various car accessories give extra functions to make cars look more sleek and for road travels to be more pleasurable.  Others serve as protection just like those car door guard edge strip.  They are simple, cheap and effective.  This strip of rubber may save you and your car insurance provider a large sum of money in the event you accidentally hit another car while opening your door.

Different car accessories and gadgets through the years have provided different functionalities and conveniences for car owners worldwide.  With these gadgets, drivers and passengers can sing along to their favorite digital tracks, pass the time by watching movies and recharge their electronics in their car when needed.  As cars evolve, so will different innovative car accessories and products.
